THE GERALDINE MARREN FELLOWSHIP ANNOUNCEMENT
The Philadelphia Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) is pleased to announce that it will award several $4,000 one-time Geraldine Marren Fellowships for the Fall 2006-07 academic year.

Activities
March 4IBC Tour. We will meet at the NCC between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. for 10:00 a.m. tour of the Franklin Exhibit and 12 p.m. Freedom Rising Tour. Cost is $10 per person. National Constitution Center, 525 Arch Street Independence Mall, Philadelphia. Lunch on your own.
March 8Public Policy Committee. International Women’s Day program on “Engaging Women in Politics in Malawi” with Janet Sawaya, Executive Director of Women’s Campaign International. 6:00 p.m. at the International House, 3701 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia. Buffet supper following the program. Cost $20.00 payable to AAUW Philadelphia.

March 25Sixth Annual “Be the Designer of Your Life” Conference. The theme “Women as Agents of Change”. From 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Community College of Philadelphia Business and Industry Center, 1751 Callowhill Sts., Room C2-28. See article on page 3.
March 27Main Line Book Group. Memoirs of Hadrian by Marguerite Yourcenar. Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the home of Rena Burstein, 729 Arlington Road, Narberth, PA. To RSVP and for directions call 610-664-1840.
May 10Award Luncheon. On Wednesday at the Union League, 1450 Sansom Street. Reception 11:15 a.m. Lunch 12:00 p.m. Please send your reservation as soon as possible (see flier).
May 22Main Line Book Group. Monday, 7:30 p.m. will discuss "War Trash" by award-winning author Ha Jin, who was born in China, educated at Brandeis University and is now a professor of English at Boston University. The novel is set in a prisoner of war camp in Korea in the 1950's. Location of meeting to be determined. All branch members are welcome to attend. Call 610-664-1840 for information and directions.
